tod seelie

bio

Tod Seelie was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 2002 with degree in Photography. Tod also studied at the Victorian College of Art in Melbourne and the Chautauqua School of Art. He was the 2002 recipient for the Pratt Travel Grant, as well as a member of a group to win a grant from the organization Finger (Germany) as part of the evolutionare zellen competition. Tod has exhibited in New York and Berlin, and continues to collaborate with art collectives in New York City, where he resides.

These images are a small selection from a larger body of work, "states : states." A collection of ten books, this series examines different states of place (Cleveland, Florida, Brooklyn) and different states of being (Cold, Lost, Quiet). The basic fundamentals of narrative are explored through context and sequence. "states : states" probes the idea of how the character and nature of a place or sensation can be conveyed through images.
