mara bodis-wollner

bio

Mara Bodis-Wollner graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Photography in 1996. She has worked for photographers Raymond Meier and Craig Cutler. In 1999 she received a Fulbright Grant to Hungary for a project entitled, "The Visual Vestiges of Socialism". She is currently an MFA candidate at Bard College. Mara is a Founding Member of Nymphoto, a collective of women photographers who launched their inaugural exhibition in New York in December, 2002. Her work as been exhibited by The Hungarian Museum of Photography, I.S.E.S. Institute for Social and European Studies and by Aita Gallery in Budapest. She lives and works in New York City.

statement

I am interested in overlooked corners, and what they suggest about the untended space that people inhabit. I investigate the found still lives of home and ways in which people, both intentionally and unintentionally, lay claim to spaces in which they live.
