Jen Bekman has been a busy bee out West for quite a while. She hosted a 20×200 party this week, and the week before she gave a talk at PSKF. You’d think it be high time for the little lady to return to NYC but no! This weekend (July 26th and 27th) Jen will be in Portland, Oregon to join a panel of reviewers for Photolucida’s Northwest Summer Portfolio Review.

For those of you in the Portland area, check out the Art Institute of Portland on Saturday, July 26 from 6 – 9pm. As part of the weekend Portfolio Review there will be an Portfolio Walk showcasing national and local emerging photographers.

If you see Jen, please send her back to New York straightaway, we miss her around here!

Jen Bekman artist Christine Callahan is part of a group show opening tonight at Heist Gallery. The curiously titled show, I’ll Be Your Mirror…So You Can Break Into Endless Shards “is an obvious reference to the mythic Velvet Underground song titled “I’ll be your mirror” in which Nico sang in her beautiful ingenue voice the first part of this title, it is equally a celebration of love, life, empathy, death and everything we may endure through a shared experience with another.”

Once again the tireless Jen Bekman boards an airplane and sets forth out into the wilds of the west to attend a conference dedicated to sharing and learning about new ideas in the creative community. Jen will take part in PSFK and join 25 other “senior professionals from the advertising, design, digital, entertainment, media and marketing industries” for a day of engaging and inspiring colloquiums.
