Jen Bekman Gallery mentioned in New York Times

Navigating the burgeoning Lower East Side art scene is a little challenging without a little help.  Jen Bekman Gallery generously produced a Google map to help eager seekers find what they are looking for.  Today’s edition of The New York Times acknowledged this endeavor as a great way to begin to orient seekers to the expanding art scene.

Jen Bekman in Madrid at PHoto España

The indefatigable Jen Bekman is currently in Madrid, Spain to attend and participate in PHoto España. While there Jen will join a Photography Review panel of photography critics, gallerists, editors and collectors to critique the work of 70 finalists.


Two 20×200 photographers Jessica Bruah and Birthe Piontek have been selected to share their work to the panel and to vie for a shot at a solo show at the next edition of PHoto España.

Jen Bekman and Omar Wasow at the Griffin Museum’s Focus Awards dinner in Winchester, MA.

A warm congratulations to you, Miss Bekman! On May 8th Omar Wasow presented Jen Bekman with the Griffin Photography Museum’s Rising Star Award celebrating her Web savvy commitment to redefining gallery culture. 

PDN’s Jill Waterman filed a report on the ceremony:

The sexiest Internet executive (according to People Magazine), cyber guru Omar Wasow, awarded the Rising Star honor to innovative New York gallerist Jen Bekman, noting that with her latest online exhibition 20×200 Bekman has shipped more than 11,000 prints, to make this exhibit “the gateway drug to the artworld”.
