statement :: Centrally Located

This body of work is about the space between.

Between abstraction and representation
Between light and shadow
Between line and image
Between image and object
Between inside and outside
Between what is seen and unseen

These images were made with a wet plate collodion process called the Ambrotype process. This process was primarily used in the mid 1800’s, in which a piece of glass was coated with an emulsion and put directly into the camera for exposure. In other words a very labor intensive 21st century Polaroid process, one that I eagerly embraced as an opportunity to be more present in my work.

Within this work I find myself questioning the boundaries of photography the difference between taking and making, image and object.
