statement

I am fascinated by how the mundane and seemingly quiet moments from our everyday lives are often the most evocative, and the most fragile. I look for this in the faces and gestures of the people whom I photograph, as they complement their surrounding spaces with simple, fleeting beauty. The two images of children are from a body of work in which I photographed children living in trailer parks along Route 1 in central New Jersey. The two photographs of women are from a series made in my last year at Princeton University, where I photographed women friends and acquaintances in everyday places. Michigan Backyard was made this past winter not far from my parents’ home.
