statement :: Year of the Horse
The world of the horse girl is a place that visually exists on Earth -- at the stables, in the bedrooms, and among forests found everywhere. But the vapors of fantasy this relationship emits belong to Equus, the Centaur, Pegasus.
I begin with my own contrasting fantasies of wild raised-by-pony girls and willing secretive nymphs. The pairing is alternately mythologically sanctioned and kitschly fetishised, hyper feminine and utterly butch.
I am interested in the mentality that an imagined place reveals about the longings of its participants. I toy with the boundary that declares fantasy while working in a medium and in environments that encourage the scenes to be read as reality. I offer a land where the supernatural flirts with the natural. I pursue the positively unicorn. I am looking for transport. The horse is the vehicle for the ride from this world to the next.
